Fish Tank

Well i am finally able to blog about our new addition to our family. My brother and his girlfriend sent Teagen a Gift card for us to go and buy her a fish tank for her birthday. We got it all set up last week. The girls just love it. We tried to let them both pick out their own fish for in it but Teagen was unable to decide. Payten picked out a Mickey Mouse fish and we got a tetra for Teagen. We put our betta( Big Red) in it a day before we got the other fish so he could get used to the tank. He was not liking it at first. Even after a week he still pretty much still stays at the top by the heater but now he is starting to venture out into the tank and chase the other fish. Even our cat is enjoying the fish. She loves to sit on the back of the futon and watch the fish. Of course as soon as one of the girls sees her sitting there they tell her no and chase her away. Well here is a pic of the tank.

This give-away is now over.

Yes it is time for another bloggy give-away. Shannon over at Bloggy Give-Aways is hosting it again. This is my first time giving something away so I am truly excited. I am looking forward to seeing how many people get signed up to win on my blog.
I am giving away 3 items. The first item is Mom's Plan It 17 month 2008 calendar. It includes 442 stickers, spaces to track up to 5 family members, storage pocket, magnetic hanger, 2 tabbed contact sections. Is that cool or what? The next is a book- Meditations for new mothers- A Gift from God by Patricia H. Sprinkle. Last is a Danielle Steel book- Family Album.
All you have to do is leave me a comment. Only one per person please. The Give-away will be closed at 12am on Saturday February, 2. Good luck!

Ink Stains update

Well the hairspray worked on almost everything. We washed everything and they all came clean except for a few more spots of ink on Payten's blankets and pillow case. I am going to respray them and then rewash them today, If I can get the energy to do so. I was really surprised. At least the 4 1/2 hours of spraying and blotting along with all the pain paid off. We don't have to go and buy all new clothes.

WE finally got Teagen to eat some meat. We got roast beef sandwiches last nite from Arby's for supper and Teagen ate it. This is the first meat besides hot dogs that she has ate. We were so happy and excited. I told hubby " I guess we are going to have to buy these once a week" Of course we won't but its an idea just to have her eating some meat. It's a start to the meat world.

Baxk in Color

Finally we are not watching a green TV. Our TVs tube has been starting to go out for about a year now. It has got to the point where everything is green. It is so bad that when Elizabeth came over to watch my girls on Tuesday, they wanted to watch " How the Grinch stole Christmas" her oldest boy( 4 1/2 yrs old) Said " mommy, only the Grinch is supposed to be green, why is everyone else green too" That says it all folks. Well Elizabeth had an extra 25" TV and so they gave it to us. We wanted to buy it but they refused the money. They are so sweet. You can tell they are true Southerners. Anyone up North would not refuse money for anything. Ok most Northerners. Am I right? So it is truly a blessing to back in color. Thanks again Elizabeth!!!

Ink Stains

I went to empty the dryer this morning and what do I find, a whole lot of ink. That's right. An ink pen went through the wash and dryer. All of our clothes, Payten's bedding, her favorite blanket that Mommy made for her when she was an infant, and a pair of her pants. Including all over the dryer drum. It was a mess. I was so furious but understood that it was an accident. It could and probably has happened to many of you. Well so hubby and i spent 4 1/2 hours total time today getting out ink stains with hair spray. You just spray it on the spot then blot it. Continue to do so till all stains are out. Then spray with stain remover and rewash. Make sure you put a towel under the clothing. Right now my hands, fingers, shoulders and arms hurt really bad. Unfortunately hubbies monogrammed work shirts were in there. The items that got the worse of it was Payten's bedding and her favorite blanket. I don't think they are going to be able to be saved. Hopefully I will be able to find the same material to make her a new one.
To start the whole jinxing of the weekend, we started to watch "Good luck Chuck" last night. Payten woke up right in the beginning of it and refused to go back to bed till 1:30 am. So the movie was out. Now we are going to try again tonight as soon as hubby finishes blotting another work shirt. We were able to get to Walmart tonight to get our shopping done. Hopefully tomorrow will be much better.

Something we all need to remember

I love this and need to remember this more for sure!
Sometimes we wonder, "What did I do to deserve this?" or "Why did God have to do this to me?" Here is a wonderful explanation!
A daughter is telling her Mother how everything is going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend is moving away. Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the daughter says, "Absolutely Mom, I love your cake." "Here, have some cooking oil," her Mother offers. "Yuck" says her daughter. "How about a couple raw eggs?" "Gross, Mom!" "Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?" "Mom, those are all yucky!" To which the mother replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! " God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful! God is crazy about you. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart. Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance

Do you go through the kids crayons and throw out all the little ones? Well you don't need to waste them by throwing them out anymore. You can actually make new ones. All you need is cupcake wrappers and pan. Take all the broken ones and take the papers off. Then place them in the cupcake wrappers. Preheat the oven to 350 and then place the cupcake pan in the oven for about 15 mins or until the crayons are melted. Place the pan in the fridge till the crayons are hardened. You can make different color ones or all the same color. These are even big enough for little fingers to use.

At Teagen's doctor appt the other day I talked to the doctor about Payten not sleeping through the night and her tantrums. She was such a great sleeper. At 7 weeks she was sleeping through the night till right after her 2nd birthday. Then she started to wake up screaming and kicking. At first her doctor up in PA said it was just night terrors and give her a few weeks and she would out grow them. I thought it was because every time she got sick she couldn't sleep at night cause she couldn't breath through her nose and she had to have a binkie. So right after Christmas with no changes in her sleep habit we took her binkie. She did really great without it.Which was great cause she would not sleep without it in her mouth. Still nothing changed with her sleeping. So after we moved to NC I talked to her Pediatrician about it and they wanted to do a sleep study. My hubby was absolutely against it. Well about 3 weeks before it she started to sleep all night so the week before i cancelled it. Of course as soon as I cancelled it she started all over. That was last July. She has not slept through the night since. So I brought it up again to the pediatrician and we are going to go through with the sleep study. This time I am not going to cancel. We go on Feb. 2 to a hotel. I am the only one allowed to stay with her since i am the one who gets up every night with her. Also because of her tantrums being so severe they are setting her up to see a child phyciatrists. Hoping they can help figure out why she is acting like this. When she throws her tantrums she is inconsolable. You can't even go near her and she flips out worse.
Hopefully these tests will help us understand things better and help us get back to a normal life style. Its hard for me to even be able to function everyday with not getting much sleep. There are days when I am luck to get 3 hours straight sleep. So we ask for all your paryers. That God will ead these specialists to find the answers.

Yes, it actually snowed here on Saturday. We were supposed to get 2-4 inches but due to it raining all day before the snow started it did not lay on the ground only on the cars. Then it was only a covering. The girls loved standing at the window and watching it come down. They were so disappointed to find that there was none on the ground when they woke up. So was daddy and mommy.
It has been so cold here. Poor Teagen has a cold. A stuffy nose. Hopefully it will warm up soon. I hate it when these girls get sick. She is so miserable.
Teagen had her 2 yr check up yesterday morning. She is now 26 lbs and it 34 1/2 inches tall. She did so great when she had to get blood drawn. She only whimpered a little. Thank God she didn't have to get any shots. They both got lots of stickers, which made them so happy. They both just love stickers.

The girls

Teagen got a 5' collapseable tunnel for her birthday. They both absolutely love it. had to show some pics of them playing in it.

She also got this doll and playpen that turns into a crib.

Yeah, I don't think she understands that it is for her baby doll.

Teagen's Birthday Party

We had a great time at her birthday party. We had a total of 15 people. We played 3 games and gave away prizes to the winners. Teagen loved all her presents. The Barney cake turned out wonderful and was delicious. Here are a few pics.

Playing musical chairs.

Surronded by boys- just like her mommy used to be!

Teagen is 2!

I can't believe my baby is 2yrs old. It seems just like yesterday we were in the hospital in the NICU unit for 16 days, waiting to see if she was going to live or not. She is such a energetic healthy girl. You would never knew she fought for her life. I just can't seem to believe today she is with us and health, after all she went through. God sure was with her and us. She is God's miracle baby and ours. We thank God each day for letting her live. Now only if we don't hit those so called ' Terrible two's '. Our oldest went through it and I sometimes think she still is at times. even thought they weren't as bad as some kids go through but bad enough. Well i will write more tomorrow to let everyone know how the party went.

Teagen's Birthday!

Friday is my youngest 2nd birthday. I can't believe she is going to be 2 already. Kids grow too fast. We are having her party on Friday nite with 18 people. We are having pizza, cake, ice cream and of course chips. Her Pap and Nana are coming up from Charlotte to share in this special occasion with us. We have all the paper products and some of the gifts for in the gift bags. We still need to get the pinata and goodies to fill it with.
We went last night to Toys R Us to get her gifts. The closes one to us is an hour away. When we got there the girls were so wound up from being in the car that long they went nuts in the store. It is so hard to try and look and then decide what to get while a 2yr old and 3 1/2 yr old run wild and so not listen. My husband got very stressed out. I was starting to but then just left it go. We finally decided on getting her this baby with a play pen that also turns into a crib. It has lights, music, shape sorter and a few other toys on it. We also got her a Baby Einstein look and find book, 2 baby bottles( the kind where the milk and juice disappear), and a suds maker for in the tub. I really wanted to get her this 5 foot long crawl through tunnel but I guess that will have to wait.
I will definitely write more after her party and let everyone know how it went. i know we are going to have lots of fun!

My husband had an offer through his job to go to Switzerland to visit one of their accounts and see how their plant works and then to go to the Swiss Alps. i was so excited for him but he turned it down. I couldn't believe he would turn down this once in a life time opportunity. I tried to convince him to go but no luck. He said it is scary to go to a different country for the first time alone. I can understand that. He would jump on the offer if we could afford to pay my way to go with him. I wish there was a way to do that but there is none. Also he doesn't want to leave his family for a week and go that far away. He's so sweet. I Know I could manage on my own, even though after the week was up I would be exhausted. i just wish he would change his mind and not lose this opportunity.

Diaper Bag

I am so excited. I have been looking for a small diaper bag that also looks like a purse and I finally found one. I got it through LTD Commodities and it only cost $7.99. I just love it. It has 3 compartments inside and 3 outside. It is so stylish also. I have been waiting for it to come and it finally arrived yesterday. Here is a picture of it.

I hope you all had a great weekend. We certainly did. Friday nite we took the girls to Chuck E. Cheese for supper and to play. Of course that took all nite so when we got it was time for bed. After the girls were sleeping the hubby and I sat down to watch The Bourne Ultimatum, Boy that was a great movie.
Sat we got up later than usual cause the girls had us up all nite. We took a ride into Raleigh for me to pick up my bridesmaid dress for my cousins wedding that I am in,in May. We figured why we were there to go ahead and go into Cary to Toys r us. It is our youngest's Birthday on Friday and we don't have her gift yet. It's hard since we have no big toy stores in our area. Well while we were on our way the girls were asleep and we got talking and decided to turn and head home since the girls really needed the nap and we didn't want to wake them up and we were due to be at a friends house at 4 and it was 2:30. We get almost home and Payten notices where we were and starts to flip out cause we didn't go to the toy store like daddy told her we were going to do. Well that pretty much set the night. We got home to find out that our friend had to cancel due to her son getting sick. We were all pretty bummed but hey things happen. So we thought we would treat ourselves and the girls to the hot tub. So we are all excited and walk down to find out that it is not working. Again our oldest flips out. So we get home and we decide to take them for a walk in their wagon. that worked till we were 1/4 way around and our oldest once again flips out cause daddy didn't go over a speed bump cause she asked him to go on the sidewalk. We are trying to calm her down when our youngest starts flipping out. At this point I am ready to turn around and go home. the both finally calm down. Teagen being carried by me and Payten in the wagon. When we get home I filled the tub with bubbles and let them get in and pretend they were in the hot tub. That worked for a full 5min when they started to fight with each other. So we cut it short and went to bed.
Sunday I got up at 7:45 with the girls. then we all went to church. Of course Payten decides she didn't want to go to her class so we dropped Teagen off in her class and took Payten with us to the service. She did really good. After we came home ate and took a nap. After supper we went to Target then took them to McDonald's for milkshakes and to play. that went really good till 10 mins before we were ready to leave Payten had an accident in her pants. That has not happened in so long. of course I was pretty mad since I had just asked her 1o mins prior if she had to go. So we went and changed her and then went home. She wasn't happy about that but i told her she had to have a consequence for potting in her pants. After we got home we read books, got ready for bed and the girls went to sleep. I was shocked I think Payten was asleep before her head hit the pillow.
Yeah, so we had a lovely weekend. Don't get me wrong, the whole weekend wasn't horrid just most of it.

Life is too short!

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right. Forget about the one's who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

How to clean your diamonds!

My husband actually sent me this video. In case you don't want to watch the video I'll tell you about it. They give you a cleaning solution to use to clean your diamonds instead of taking them to get professionally cleaned. What you'll need is... ammonia, water, dish soap, old toothbrush, and a measuring cup.

1st- add to measuring cup 1/6 ammonia

2nd- add 5/6 water

3rd- heat solution for about 2 mins in microwave

4th- put diamond(s) in solution and let soak for 5 -10 minutes depending on how dirty they are

5th- remove diamonds

6th- add a small amount of dish soap to an old toothbrush

7th- gently brush diamond from all angles

8th- rinse in warm water

9th- gently dry diamond

They also let you know that if you are going to do this over a sink make sure to close the drain, so you do not lose your diamond.

Here is the site.

Something to think about

When God takes something from your grasp; He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better.

Concentrate on this sentence.....

"The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you."

I was at the doctors office the other day and they have a tv showing some medical channel. On it they were showing how easy it was to flip an oven. I never would have imagined an oven would be so easy to flip. So they showed how with the oven door opened if you just pushed down on it , not even that hard, how it would just flip over. They also mentioned that every oven comes with these safety plates that you place on the back underneath it and bolt it to the floor or wall. Since I have never bought an oven I didn't know about this. I guess not many people use the safety devices and so there are alot of injuries due to them flipping on people. Can you imagine having some pots on the stove then opening the door to put something in it and having maybe your child come up and push down on the open door and everything falling off the stove and coming down on yourself and child. Scary! I will definitely be making sure to install the safety plates when we buy a stove or even when we buy a house.

Children eating

Do you ever have those days were you just don't know what to make for supper or even lunch cause your kids are so picky they don't eat anything? My kids are like that. I never know what to make. Everything I make or give to my kids to eat they turn away. I just get so frustrated with cooking and food in general. I remember my girlfriend told me about a book for picky toddlers but do you think I can remember it. So I don't even have the want or energy to cook cause I know that no matter what I make the girls won't eat. If you have any suggestions feel free to send them my way.
And yes we have even tried the ' no getting out of your seat till you at least try it.' and they sit there forever and still refuse to even take a bite. I feel like I am failing at that part of parenting. I know that I am not but it still makes you feel that way. Looking forward to hearing about your ideas.

Tuesday, January 8, 2008

I guess today is going to one of those days again. I was able to get 3 1/2 hours of sleep last night. I went to bed at 12:30am and then Payten (oldest) woke me up at 1:30 am for a drink. She of course didn't want to go back to sleep unless I would sit with her. So I sat beside her bed and started to doze off when Teagen(youngest) woke up. Of course my legs fell asleep, so she wanted to go get a drink and I am sitting there trying to get my legs to wake up. You know how when they fall asleep and then when they try to wake up you get that painful stinging in them. Well that's what I got but really bad. I was trying to keep her calm since she was upset I was not moving and I myself trying not to scream in pain. I finally got up and came downstairs and Payten woke up again screaming cause she knew I left the room. I had hurried up and got Teagen her milk and ran back upstairs. I was so exhausted that instead of trying to fight them back into their beds I put them in our bedroom on a makeshift bed on the floor. Payten went right to sleep but Teagen would not unless I layed beside her. So trying not to fall asleep cause I know the pain I would be in when I woke from the floor, I kept trying to get up and go into my bed every time I thought Teagen was asleep. But she always knows when I leave if she is not into that deep sleep. I ended up laying on the floor with her awake for 3 hours. Finally at 5 am she went into her deep sleep. I crawled up into bed( which was a task) and feel right to sleep. Only to be woke up at 7:30 by Payten cause she pee ed her pants on the floor. Nice right, perfect beginning of a sleepless day. Granted she only woke me up 20 mins early before my alarm went off to get up and get ready to go to our MOPS meeting. Hopefully I can stay awake through it and last till nap time.

Hope Chest

I have this hope chest that my brother and his ex-wife made me for my babyshower. Inside it on the lid they put some pictures of when I was pregnant and some ultra-sound pics. Well tonight I opened it to get out a new sheet for on Payten's bed. Well Payten and Teagen started to look at the pics and ask questions. So I was explaining to them about the pics and how Payten was in Mommies belly. Payten says to me " mommy, I don't want to be in your belly" my response was " your not in my belly anymore, your right here now". Then she say an ultra-sound pic of when she was just an egg and she tells me " I don't want to be in the egg in your belly". So i explained to her how she started out an egg before her body formed. Then her next comment was " you pushed me out of your belly". That one just blew me away since I didn't say anything at all about pushing her out or how she got out. After that we shut the lid and a little later I was rocking with her and cuddling when she out of the blue says
" Mommy, can I be in the egg again back in your belly?" I told her" no, honey you can't get back in the egg into my bely". Then she asked if there were any babies in my belly. Of course I told her no and that we don't need anymore babies in this house right now.
Oh how 3 yr olds just blow you away with the questions and conversations they have with you. It really keeps you on your toes and it amuses you.

Pig Tails

Iam so excited. Today for the first time I was able to get Teagen's hair in pig tails. She looks so cute. Now people won't be able to call her a boy all the time. Yes, even when I have her in a dress or all pink or purple clothes. Check out her new DO!

Dry Hair

Our youngest daughter has such dry hair. It is always sticking up in the back due to it being so dry. Does anyone know of any special shampoo or anything that will help with this in a 2 yr old? I already use a shampoo/conditioner combo but it does not seem to help. I am open for suggestions.

House back to normal

It is fun decorating for Christmas and sharing that special day with family and friends. But it is also great to put everything away and have the house back to normal again. Today I put everything away but still have to take the tree out. It feels good to be back to normal. Scott is now sick so I did most of it myself. Which was okay since we didn't have much out. The girls and I are over our 24 hour stomach flu. Its a good thing we were not all down with it at the same time.

I want to wish my good friend Elizabeth (here in NC) a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!
We took her out last night to Chili's to celebrate her big day. We had a great time. It was Shelly, Elizabeth and myself. Unfortunately our friend Margaret was unable to make it. We missed you. It was nice to sit there and relax while drinking margaritas. Have a great day, Elizabeth!!

Happy Birthday!!

I just want to wish my best friend Teresa( in Pa) a very Happy 30th Birthday. Yes she is hitting the big one.
We all went out for her birthday while we were home. We went bowling then hit a bar after. We had such a great time. Teresa wasn't feeling too great when we left the bar. You only turn 30 once.
I am actually looking forward to turning 30 this year. Yes, I must be crazy!

Last night we were having a family nite, when Teagen our youngest started to whine at me. I looked at her and said to her jokingly " don't give me your lip" then she looked at me and stuck out her lips at me. I was just about knocked off my seat. It was so funny and cute. That was the first time I ever said that to her. She surprised me. I told Scott about it and well Teagen showed her daddy what she did. He said" well she knows what her lips are". I can't believe she did that to me. She is going to be the jokester like her daddy. Kids are a hoot. It is unbelievable what they do at times.

Happy New Year !

Our family would like to wish your families and very healthy, safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

We're home

Well we had a great visit but not enough time to see everyone. We were planning on leaving at 8 am but with Scott being sick We didn't get up till 8. We had the Tahoe all packed and ready to go when Scott shut the back doors and a present fell against the lock on the back column and locked the doors. Of course all our keys were in the Tahoe already. So needless to say we had to call a garage to come and get us unlocked. We didn't leave till 1 pm. I was stressing cause I didn't want to get home late so that the girls could unwind before bed. We got home at 10pm. It only took us 9 hours and that was even with us making a wrong turn and taking us 30 mins out of our way. The traffic was good. That was the 2nd time during our visit that we got locked out of the Tahoe but luckily I had the spare keys in the diaper bag(which I was holding). The girls are excited to be home and relaxing. They are so busy playing with all their toys. Now we have to clean house and find places for everything. That should be fun.
