There is one Christmas Carol that has baffled many. What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out o f the pear tree have to do with Christmas??

From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember
> The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
> Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
> Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.
> The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.
> The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament. > The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
> Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenf old gifts of the Holy Spirit - Prophecy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.
> The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
> Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit-Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.
> The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.
> The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
> The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

Yes, it is snowing here in PA. I was really missing the snow, not shoveling but how pretty it all looked. It started snowing tonight and so far hasn't stopped. We probably have about an inch so far. I just wish it would have done it last night so the girls could have played in it this morning. We were out making our last visit with my cousins tonight and when we were heading back to my parents house at 10 pm the roads were getting very slippery. We took 2 turns sideways. It was fun since we did not have the girls with us. Boy it sure looks beautiful seeing the snow on the mountains and laying in the trees.
Well we are heading home tomorrow morning. Kind of hoping we get snowed in but I don't think there is that chance. Poor Scott is having a horrible time. He got bad allergies and then it brought on a sinus infection. Plus his coat zipper broke. Which is not good since it is only in the 30's up here. So I will be helping him drive tomorrow. Which is fine with me. It helps make the trip go faster. Praying the traffic will be good so we can get home at a decent time so that the girls will have time to unwind from being in the car all day before they have to go to bed. I am ready to go home to warmer weather but not ready to leave my family and friends. It is never enough time. Hoping to come home for a week in a few months with the girls.
It is just so exciting to be able to see the snow. You miss it when you don't have it, just like everything else.

Writing from PA

Well we have been home now for 3 days. We have been having a great visit. The time is definitely going way to fast. Last night we took my girlfriend out for her 30th birthday that is on 1-3. We first had a surprise party for her at her in-laws house and then 13 of us went to Faxon Bowling. The Lanes have a bar in it and at 9pm they do cosmo bowling. That is where they have it dark with black lights on and different lights and disco balls on. It is pretty cool. Also at the bar if you look under 30 they card you and put a bracelet on your arm. Well neither Scott nor I were carded but Teresa ( who is older than me) got. Well I no longer look young. We then went to a bar in Montoursville. The had karaoke but unfortunately no one would sing with me so again I didn't get to experience the thrill of embarrassing myself on purpose. We closed the bar at 2am. I was very proud of myself, I was able to walk out on my own with just a slight buzz. Teresa on the other hand had to have help walking to the car. We ended up back at their house and sat up till 5 am talking then back up at 830am to get back to my parents house to get the kids. It was a great night and a night that was desperately needed. Well I better get back to visiting.

Done at last!

Well I finally got all the gifts bought. I went out this morning to finish up our shopping. Boy you would have thought it was Black Friday all over again. Talk about crammed in the stores. Now we have to get all packed and prepared to leave for PA in 2 days. Never ending. I love the holidays but they just wear you out. I still have a few Christmas cards to send out. Slow moving but I will get it all done eventually. Well I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a very happy New Year.

Relaxation at last

We were finally able to sit down and relax tonight. The first time in a week. We watched The Lake House with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. It was a great movie. I am pretty good at picking up on things and keeping up with it but this movie has me lost. I just do not understand how the kept 2yrs apart through the whole movie than finally meet in the same time. Someone will have to fill me in.
We had a nice visit with Scott's dad and step mom. The girls of course were impossible to deal with at times. It is so great when the kids decide to act like spoiled rotten brats ( which they are not) when we have our family around, when they haven't seen them in months. Why our girls are most of the time impossible to deal with is beyond comprehension to me.
Well anyways, we leave on the 26Th to go up to PA where we are from. I especially am getting excited. My family has decided to have a get together on Thursday so we can visit with everyone. Which really makes it nice and much easier for us. There are just so many people we want to see and never enough time. Well I guess we will make do with the time we have and hopefully we will get to see those we were unable to visit with the last trip we made up North.

WHY ????

Why does everything always happen at the wrong time? With Christmas only 4 days away we are in such a rush. The in-laws are coming tomorrow afternoon and the house is still not cleaned. My hubby is stressing out over all we have to do yet. Payten wasn't watching where she was walking last night and walked right into the corner of the counter . She hit right above her left eyebrow, so now she has a nice bruise and cut. Of course I am sick. I feel ok in the morning but by the time afternoon hits I feel horrible and can't do anything but lay on the couch.
Why is it when men get sick all the do is lay around and whine and of course we take pity on them and take care of them. When us women get sick we are to keep going. Take care of the kids, clean the house, cook and then not whine or complain. I hate it. When is someone going to take care of me for a change when I am sick? The other night after my hubby got home, he did tell me to go soak in the tub and he would take care of setting the new component stand up. That was sweet of him. But now last night he made me feel that it didn't matter if I was sick or not I had to get up and help clean the house. I would just love to be able to say" who cares if the house is not perfect" and to be able to lay around and relax. It's a wonder women ever get better when they are sick because we never get to rest and are still stressed out.
Now tonight we have to go out and finish Christmas shopping, shampoo the carpets, and finish wrapping gifts. OOOOOHHHHH I just want to scream. Why is it we always wait to the last min to get everything done? I know I don't have much choice about not getting alot done during the day. My girls do not let me sit here at the puter to blog let alone clean or wrap gifts. Well here in about 20 mins the girls and I are going to bake some cookies. Well hopefully this will go good without too much of a mess to clean up. HAHAHA.

3 year olds are wonderful

Well today was to be my cleaning day. So at 9 am I took the girls over to my girlfriends house to play while I came home and cleaned. It was nice to actually get some things done without having to stop every other min to deal with the girls. I got all the bathrooms cleaned and thats it. I picked up the girls at 11:30. We came home ate lunch then off to bed. Well Payten decided she was going to play instead of sleep, so I took her in my bed to lay down with me. I wasn't feeling too good. 30 mins after I fell asleep I woke up to the girls playing. That was fine with me. They could play in the platroom while I layed in bed. Yea right ! I forgot to shut the gate to the downstairs, do they decided to go down and play. So I was up out of bed and onto the couch. After a little bit Teagen comes over and wants juice, so I ask Payten to get it for me out of the fridge and she does. She brings it in and takes the lid off and even helps me pour it. After she puts it back in the fridge I asked her to get me a diaper for her sister. She goes to get it but then all the diapers fall out hte door so I went in to help her put them away. She is such a great helper when she wants to be. I actually can't wait to see how she is when we have a 3rd child in about 2-3 years. I know she will be in school but I think when she is home she will be a great little helper with the baby.

Christmas right around the corner

Well Christmas is only 7 days away. We have yet to finish our shopping. It is starting to get stressful. We have to wrap gifts, clean house, bake cookies and do everyday things. I am just trying to get the strength up to do all these things. It had been so hectic around here and just not enough time to get things done. We keep saying that when the girls go to bed we are going to wrap but then we get busy doing something else or we just sit down to relax for a min and then we find that it is time to go to bed. Well it is time to seriously get busy and get things done.

Christams Program

Yesterday at church was the Christmas program for the children. We were so nervous because of how Payten acted for the rehearsal. When we went to drop her off in the room were all the children were gathering she refused to go in. So finally I had to pick her up and carry her in. At first she wouldn't even let us leave but then someone brought over some games and she was fine. SO while she was distracted we left. When it came to the time when the kids were coming out we watched to see how she was going to act since her class was the first to go on stage to sing. She did great. Even though she didn't sing she at least stood on stage and didn't cry. At the end they brought all the children out to sing a few final songs. Again she went on and stood there. When they were leaving the stage she found us and came running. Scott took her back to the room for her to have treats with her classmates. We were so proud of her. It was her first program ever. The children did a great job.

Children's Museum and Laser Light Show

On Friday night we decided to do something fun with our children. We took them to the meseum and light show here in our town. It was our first time being there so we were all excited to see it . For the Christmas season the have about 8 Christmas trees set up and all decorated in the lobby and then every so often for 10 mins they make it snow. Of course we didn't get to see the snow since that was scheduled at the same time as the laser light show. The light show was really neat and the girls really enjoyed it. It was set to music and had different designs and pics. Afterwards we had about 20 mins to see the museum. They have an area with real snakes, and alligator, and a touch tank with fish, horse shoe crabs and a stingray. It was so neat to see the different sections they had set up. The one theme was deep sea. They also had a fitness area. The one aspect I was very disappointed with was that they charged you to not only see the light show but also to get into the museum. It cost us $25.00 for the family. Then we only had 20mins to enjoy the museum before they closed for the night. You would think that knowing that after the last light show no one is going to have much time in the museum that they either would not charge for that or only charge half price for the museum part. Payten is asking to go back to see the mammals. Since on Wed. it is free, I think that is when I will take them again but not till after the holidays. I am so glad there is alot to do around here with the kids.

Dress Rehearsal

Well Wednesday night was our oldest daughters dress rehearsal for her church Christmas program. The put all the kids on the stage to sing their final song as a group. She did really good at first and stood on the stage. After they got everyone on and they were trying to situate them, one of the teachers asked Payten to move over and it was all over. She just started to bawl. I couldn't even get her to calm down till I took her off the stage. She refused to go back up.
So we sat there and watched the first half. My girlfriend's kids were also in it. It was so funny to watch her middle son go up with his class. He stood right in front of the microphone and stretched his neck up and sung right into the microphone. It was so cute. Then it was her daughters turn she did the same thing as her brother. I wish my kids were more like that. Someday hopefully they will be.
There program is this Sunday and we are going to try again. Hopefully this time she will be okay and we will stay out of view. Wish us luck!

Cell Phones

Don't you just hate it when you are on the phone having a nice conversation when all of a sudden your cell phone dies. I do not have a land line so we depend on our cell phones. It seems whenever I am on the phone with someone or having a conversation I do not care to have, the battery is on full charge. It never seems to last long enough when I need it to. I was on the phone with my friend Elizabeth and she was trying to help me understand the blog and how to change my background, ect.. and the phone went dead. SO now I have to wait till it charges and call her back. Hoping the girls will either be asleep or behaving like they are now. Well I guess it is back to cleaning then getting the girls lunch ready.

A little about myself.

Well this is my first all mine blog. I shared one with 5 other women which is what you see when you read the older blogs. Ok about me. I am a stay at home mother of 2 beautiful girls. They are 3 as of Aug, and soon to be 2 in Jan. I have been happily married for 8yrs but have been together for 10 yrs. Boy, at times that seems like yesterday and then other times it feels like forever ago. For the first 28 yrs of my life I lived in Pennsylvania. The last 8 months (as of the 12th of Dec) we have lived in North Carolina. Yes it was a big change but a good one. We all love it here. My hubby Scott is a Process Engineer. We have a pug dog, Jazzmin and a cat, Zoie. Well I think that is about all about me. Thanks for visiting and come back again.
